In a
partnership with the Council on Gambling and Gam-A- Non, Atlantic
Behavioral Health at Overlook Hospital has developed a program for
the treatment of compulsive gamblers and their family members.
Compulsive gambling is a progressive behavior disorder
characterized by a psychological, uncontrollable preoccupation
with and urge to gamble. After evaluation, treatment may consist
of individual or group therapy. Family members, who are concerned
about the gambling behaviors of a loved one, are urged to call for
an appointment.
Gambling assessments and
individual sessions are by appointment only. A
psychiatrist is available on staff and there are Gamblers
Anonymous meetings in the area.
Group sessions are held on
Tuesday evenings from 8 PM to 9 PM. |
