Problem Gambling Awareness Month

March, 2010

New Jersey's Governor Chris Christie has issued a proclamation and declared March, 2010 as Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

The goal of this campaign is to educate the general public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and raise awareness about the help that is available both locally and nationally.

The Council on Compulsive Gambling of NJ, Inc.  provides information, education and referral services to compulsive gamblers, their families and friends.  We work tirelessly towards society's acceptance of compulsive gambling as a treatable illness.

Our research finds that 2%-3% of the US population will have a gambling problem in any given year. That’s 6 million to 9 million Americans yet only a small fraction seek out services, such as treatment and self-help recovery programs.

We hope that you will use these resources and information to promote awareness of problem gambling, and more importantly, that there is hope and help for those who suffer from gambling problems.
